Mass Production Sample + Timeline Update

Hey Backers,
Hope everyone is doing well and ready for some exciting news? 🤩
We just received our 2nd mass production sample. The first one we received approx. 2 weeks ago had an issue 😞 with the magnetic control ring and the modes were not functioning to specifications. However, now with everything fine-tuned and dialed in we are confident that you'll be receiving a QUALITY ZEROHOUR product. 👍
Here are a few photos of what the final version will look like. Note the USPTO patent and product serial numbers have been added to the body. Each backer will receive a unique serial number for authenticity and warranty...
Note: Final version will read "RELIC XR2"
So what does this all mean?
It means we are moving into the assembly phase! With most of the XR2 parts now finished, our manufacturing partners are now physically assembling each flashlight by hand.
SO WHEN DOES XR2 SHIP?
Well... assuming there are no further delays, we project a November 2019 delivery which means XR2 should be in your hands well before Christmas! 🎄

Production Photos and Packaging Design

Hey Backers,
Three days ago we received a mass production sample of the XR2 but we were not particularly satisfied with the mode and control ring operation. We want to improve the transitions between each mode as it wasn't as "smooth" as we wanted it. We have been in discussion with our team of engineers and are currently working on an improvement. We will shed more light on the situation soon.
In the meantime, please check out these mass production photos of some parts...
Most of the XR2 parts come out in raw aluminum straight out of the CNC machines like the photo above but for some parts that need to "matte black" they are sent to a specialized factory which handles anodizing. They are then sent back to our assembly plant for the next phase.
Once all the parts are finished and we finalize the PCB (electronic components) and new control ring it will go into the assembly phase in approx. 2 weeks from now. While the XR2 is being assembled we will be simultaneously working with our packaging partner to finalize the retail box. Check out this mock-up design...
We thank you again for your continued patience as we near the completion of the mass production phase. We will let everyone know as soon as we move into the assembly phase at which point we will have a more concrete updated delivery timeline.

Great news! Our BackerKit page setup is complete and we have just sent out a small batch of invitations (a smoke test!). We've sent only a handful of backers because we want to make sure everything is running smoothly before sending them out to everyone. Some of you may have already received the invitation by email but if you haven't yet, please give us a 24 hours to officially launch it. In the event that it has been more than 48 hours since this backer update and you still haven't received an email, please follow the instructions below:
